Airfix 1:43 Aston Martin DB5 Starter Set A55011
£14.99
Although the criteria for a car to be described as one of the world's top supercars will always be open to some debate, surely few would argue that the Aston Martin DB5 should be amongst this group. A luxury grand tourer which may have been the product of an Italian design team, but is the very essence of British sophistication and style, the DB5 built on the impressive success of its predecessor, the DB4 and between 1963 and 1965, presented the motoring world with one of the most desirable cars ever produced. With pure driving pleasure at its heart, the Aston Martin DB5 was fast, powerful and refined, but most of all was beautiful to look at. With its iconic front profile and eye-catching spoked wheels, this product of the 1960s can still hold its own with any modern classic and if you arrived at an event in one of these beauties, you would definitely be the centre of attention. What's Inside? Plastic model kit, instruction sheet, paint layout sheet and decals. Item Scale - 1:43 Parts Included - 29 Skill Level - 1 Scheme Options - 1

Airfix Lockheed Martin F-35 B Lightning II A55010
£19.99
Please note: Box is slightly squashed but product inside is absolutely fine. As one of the most advanced aircraft in the world, the Lockheed Martin® F-35B® Lightning® is a fifth generation multi-role combat aircraft designed to dominate the skies, using stealth technologies to operate undetected in hostile airspace, striking at the heart of the enemy, or relaying vital battlefield information to other friendly forces. The United Kingdom has elected to take the short take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) 'B' variant of the F-35, allowing their aircraft to operate from traditional airfields, from the decks of Britain’s two new Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers and should the need arise, from dispersed locations, in much the same way as the famous Harrier previously did. In British service, the F-35 will not carry the Lightning II denotation, as the new jet is actually the third aircraft in RAF service to carry the name, after the Lockheed P-38 from the Second World War and the famous English Electric Lightning which served throughout the Cold War era.

Airfix Dambusters 80th Anniversary Gift Set A50191
£54.99
As the first of 20 modified Avro Lancasters arrived at RAF Scampton on 8th April 1943, the specially assembled volunteer crews of specialist 'Squadron X' (later allocated the RAF squadron number 617) from within 5 Group Bomber Command must have been intrigued. The new aircraft were B.III (Specials), referred to at Avro's Woodford factory as Lancaster Type 464 Provisioning and each one had been modified with equipment to deliver the Vickers Type 464 'Upkeep' mine. Although the mines had not been delivered to Scampton at that time, talk amongst the crews inevitably turned to discussing their intended target, with most assuming they would be sent to attack the massive German battleship Tirpitz. As more Lancaster's arrived, the commander of this new squadron, Wing Commander Guy Gibson, selected Lancaster ED932/AJ-G as his own aircraft, due to the fact that the bomber's codes were the same as his father's initials, Alexander James Gibson. Gibson and the crew of ED932 were amongst the first to train with their new aircraft and their unusual bombs, releasing their mines at a test site at Reculver on the north Kent coast from 12th May 1943, just five days before crews embarked on their historic raid. After a period of intense training and on the day prior to the raid, Gibson was finally briefed on the intended targets - 'Operation Chastise' would be striking at the industrial heart of Germany, the great dams of the Ruhr Valley. At 21.39 on 16th May 1943, Gibson and Lancaster ED932 took off from RAF Scampton at the head of the first attack wave of nine Lancasters heading for the Mohne Dam, flying a route over Suffolk, then the North Sea, crossing the Dutch coast at Zeeland, before heading inland attempting to avoid known areas of Luftwaffe defences. As Gibson and his crew made their attack run on the Mohne Dam, the other Lancasters of the first wave circled the target area, watching the effectiveness of the attack run and waiting for the instruction to commence their own attack. Having released their mine, Gibson and his crew flew alongside the other aircraft during their attacks, attempting to draw enemy fire away from the attacking aircraft, giving them the best chance of effecting a breach. The fifth mine dropped was a perfect run and exploded in exactly the right place to cause the already weakened dam to fail – they had done it. In the years which followed, this incredible operation was referred to as the 'Dambusters Raid' and No.617 Squadron would become one of the RAF's most famous units. 'Operation Chastise' was heralded as a spectacular success for Bomber Command, but at a heavy cost, as eight Lancasters and 53 airmen failed to return. No.617 Squadron continues the proud legacy of the Dambusters airmen to this day, as the first operational RAF unit equipped with the Lockheed Martin® F-35® Lightning, symbolically officially reforming in April 2018, the month in which the Royal Air Force commemorated its centenary.
Airfix 1:72 Blackburn Buccaneer S.2C A06021
£33.99
SORRY OUT OF STOCK
The mighty Blackburn Buccaneer was one of the most capable low-level strike aircraft of the Cold War period, originally entering Royal Navy service in 1962 to counter the significant threat of a massive Soviet Naval expansion programme. Rather than face the crippling cost of building new ships of their own to meet this threat, British thinking at the time was to use their new strike jet to destroy the Soviet ships with a combination of conventional and nuclear weapons. Capable of extremely high speeds at low level, the Buccaneer proved to be the ideal aircraft to keep the Warsaw Pact countries on their toes, even though the performance of the first Buccaneers to enter service was affected by a lack of power from their two de Havilland Gyron Junior engines. Operating from the decks of Britains relatively small aircraft carriers, the Buccaneer had to be tough and its rugged, no nonsense design approach was underlined rather effectively by the aircrafts manufacture and flight testing procedure. Constructed at Blackburn Aviations Brough facility, each assembled Buccaneer was transported by road, pulled behind a truck on its own undercarriage. They would make a journey of around 16 miles down winding country lanes and across bridges with sharp bends to the companys Holme-on-Spalding Moor facility, where they would undergo final checks and flight testing. Addressing most of the issues which prevented the early aircraft from realizing their full potential, the Buccaneer S.2 was a much improved platform, boasting a modified wing, increased fuel capacity and a pair of powerful Rolls Royce Spey engines. This new variant provided the Fleet Air Arm with a truly exceptional strike aircraft, which excelled in the low level environment in which it was tasked to operate. One particularly useful design feature for an aircraft which operated mainly over water was the type of ejection seat fitted in the Buccaneer in the event of a ditching, the seat would still fire even if the aircraft was submerging. As the Royal Navy retired their larger carriers in 1978, their much loved Buccaneers were transferred to the care of the Royal Air Force, who were already admirers of the many qualities possessed by this aircraft and grateful for this increase in their inventory. At its peak strength towards the end of the 1970s, the Blackburn Buccaneer equipped no fewer than six Royal Air Force Squadrons.
Airfix 1:48 Boulton Paul Defiant Mk.1 A05128A
£28.99
As the least effective of the RAFs interceptor fighters at the start of the Battle of Britain, it is interesting to note that the Boulton Paul Defiant actually entered service much later than either the Spitfire or Hurricane, but was quickly relegated to nightfighter operations when it became obvious the extra weight of the power operated turret made the aircraft a relatively easy target for Luftwaffe fighters.

Airfix 1:72 Commonwealth CA-13 Boomerang A02099V
£10.99
An aircraft which has often been described as 'Australia's panic fighter', the decision to build the indigenous Commonwealth Aircraft Corporation Boomerang came in the wake of continued Japanese aggression in the Pacific and the need to ensure a continuous future supply of new fighters for the RAAF. By using many sections and components from existing aircraft types under construction in Australia, the first Boomerang was produced just sixteen weeks after the original design decision was made and 250 of these diminutive fighters would eventually be produced. Possessing excellent low altitude performance, the Boomerang would often be used to mark targets for ground attack Corsairs during the latter stages of WWII, a role which earned the distinctive little aircraft the nickname 'Smoky Joe'. 1:72 Scale 31 Parts Included 2 Scheme Options

Airfix Sherman Firefly Vc A02341
£11.99
As Allied forces began to move off the D-Day beaches and into the Normandy countryside, they knew they would be facing strong opposition from German Panzer units, including the feared Heavy Tank Battalions. Fortunately, they now had a tank which was capable of taking on the Tigers and Panthers, in the form of the Sherman Firefly, a British designed marriage of the M4 Sherman and their famous 17-pounder anti-tank gun. Usually deployed in a ratio of one Firefly to four standard Shermans, German tank commanders soon learned to look for the longer barrel of the Firefly and attempt to knock these tanks out first. In order to make identification more difficult, British crews would camouflage the front of their guns with light coloured paint, giving their tank the appearance of a standard 75mm equipped Sherman, hoping this deception would give them enough time to get in the first shot during any engagement.
