The fennec or desert fox (Fennecus zerda or also Vulpes zerda) is a fox that occurs in the deserts of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Although closely resembling the fossil Otarocyon, it is more closely related to the bat-eared fox and members of the genus Vulpes.
